Kenyan digital media platform Mwelekeo TV has released a powerful new interview aimed at helping professionals, students and entrepreneurs overcome the fear of public speaking and communicate with confidence in everyday life.

The insightful conversation, hosted by media personality Mercy Otieno, features renowned communication and public speaking trainer Lukas Omolo breaking down the hidden psychological barriers that prevent many people from expressing themselves effectively.

The interview, titled “How to Master Confidence & Influence, and Communicate Well,” is now available on Mwelekeo TV and the platform’s official YouTube channel.

During the discussion, Omolo explains that poor communication is rarely caused by a lack of intelligence or vocabulary. Instead, he says, most people struggle because of fear, identity challenges and lack of practical exposure.

He introduces what he calls the three “locks” holding many speakers back. These include fear of judgment, readiness paralysis and identity mislabeling.

According to Omolo, fear of judgment causes people to become trapped in their own thoughts and overly concerned about what others think of them. He encourages viewers to focus on the value they are delivering instead of seeking approval from audiences.

He also warns against “readiness paralysis,” where individuals spend years consuming books and motivational content without ever stepping forward to practice speaking publicly.

“Confidence is built through exposure and execution,” Omolo says during the interview.

The trainer further challenges people to stop turning temporary skill gaps into permanent identity labels by saying phrases such as “I am not a good speaker.”

The programme also introduces viewers to the “Voice Activation” framework, a four step communication model designed to improve presentation and meeting performance. The framework focuses on preparation, action, adjustment and reaction through repeated practice and self evaluation.

Omolo recommends recording oneself during practice sessions and reviewing both body language and vocal delivery to identify areas for improvement.

The interview additionally explores the “3 C’s” of effective communication which are clarity, confidence and connection. Omolo explains that impactful communication is not about using complicated vocabulary but about structuring ideas clearly, building confidence through repetition and emotionally connecting with audiences.

Beyond theory, the conversation offers practical tips viewers can implement immediately. These include improving body language, contributing at least one sentence during meetings to build exposure and using vocal exercises such as the “Pencil Drill” to strengthen tonality and pronunciation.

Speaking after the release, Mwelekeo TV said the interview aligns with the platform’s mission of empowering audiences through transformational conversations and practical life skills content.

The media platform has continued to grow its digital audience by producing informative interviews that address leadership, business, communication and personal development issues affecting modern society.

The full interview can be watched on Mwelekeo TV YouTube Channel.
