Tim Kipchumba has emerged as the leading contender in the race for the Elgeyo Marakwet Senate seat, according to the latest survey by Mwelekeo Insights, widening the gap between himself and his closest rivals.
The poll by Mwelekeo Insights, a Kenyan public opinion and research firm, places Kipchumba firmly ahead of the field with 85.8% support, positioning him as the dominant candidate should the election be held today.
His commanding lead leaves his closest challenger, William Kisang, trailing on 8.6%, while Alex Tolgos ranks third with 2.6%.
Kipchumba opens commanding lead
The findings suggest Kipchumba has built overwhelming support among respondents, placing him in a strong political position ahead of the 2027 General Election.
With support approaching nine in every ten respondents surveyed, the poll portrays a race in which Kipchumba has established a substantial advantage over the rest of the field.
His performance also indicates growing confidence among respondents in his Senate bid, reinforcing his status as the candidate to beat if current trends persist.
Kisang remains second as Tolgos completes top three
The survey shows William Kisang retaining second position with 8.6% support, making him Kipchumba’s closest challenger despite the wide margin separating the two.
Alex Tolgos rounds off the top three with 2.6%, remaining ahead of the other candidates captured in the survey.
The latest rankings suggest the contest is currently led by a clear front-runner, with the remaining candidates competing for support significantly behind the leader.
According to Mwelekeo Insights, the survey recorded 232 valid responses. The firm specializes in measuring public opinion on governance, politics, economic issues, business and social trends through public opinion polling.
