Wiper Party leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka has opened a can of worms in regards to what killed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, saying he believes the crash was not an accident and that he’s ready to speak out. Kalonzo is now daring the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to summon him so he can give his side of the story.
“Tell DCI Amin to summon me right now. Tutaenda kule Kenya nzima kwa miguu, na Gen Z wote,” said Kalonzo, adding that the Kenyan people deserve to know the full truth about what really happened.
He dismissed the official postmortem report released by the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), which pointed to mechanical problems as the cause of the helicopter crash that killed Ogolla and nine others on April 18, 2024 in Elgeyo Marakwet. According to Kalonzo, the explanation doesn’t add up.

He questioned why the CDF was sent to inspect primary schools in the first place, a task he believes was below Ogolla’s rank and role. “It’s not the job of the Chief of Defence Forces to go checking schools,” he said.
Kalonzo further argued that people like the President and the CDF are some of the most protected individuals in the country, and a crash of that nature should raise serious questions.
“To bring down a chopper carrying the CDF is not just carelessness, it’s criminal negligence,” he said. “You cannot give excuses for that.”
He also hinted at internal power struggles, claiming there were attempts to remove Ogolla because of his role in the National Security Council. “It’s on record that some people wanted him out because he was doing his job,” Kalonzo added.

While the Ministry of Defence has maintained the crash was caused by engine failure after a loud bang was heard, Kalonzo insists only an independent inquiry can reveal the truth. He says the country should not move on until General Ogolla gets justice.
