SHA Auditor Andrew Kipkirui is no longer the employee of the Social Health Authority amid reports that he had exposed a multibillion fraud.
Even though no clear statement has been issued either from the SHA or the Ministry of Health, Andrew’s exit leaves many Kenyans wondering what might have happened to him.
There have been reports that the Auditor applied for a separate job with details remaining scanty and unverifiable.
According to the Nation, “Andrew Kipkirui Rotich, the auditor who unearthed an alleged medical billing racket in Kenya’s public health systems, has lost his job at the Social Health Authority (SHA).
“Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale fashioned the billing racket to police as an explosive dossier, which led to the closure of 1,300 rogue facilities.”

Mr Rotich led the forensic audit team that compiled 1,188 files of fraudulent medical claims worth more than Ksh10.6 billion.
Yet instead of being rewarded, he was excluded from a fresh recruitment list, together with two other deputy directors, despite being among the best in earlier interviews.
The Nation also reported that “Dr Mwangangi’s known mobile phone number was switched off yesterday. A communications officer at SHA said the CEO is away.”
Even SHA’s board chair, Abdi Mohamed, refused to answer questions. This silence has been read as cowardice and cover-up.
Critics say Duale and Mwangangi are running SHA exactly like the old NHIF cartels.

The same insiders accused of looting are being protected while those who expose theft are destroyed. “This is how institutions collapse. Fire the whistleblowers, reward the thieves, and silence the public with empty press statements,” one governance activist told reporters.
The facts are damning. The explosive dossier that Duale himself gave to the DCI is the very reason why Rotich is out. That shows a government that eats its own soldiers.
Instead of leading reform, Duale and Mwangangi are now seen as the face of incompetence and corruption in health care.
SHA, born with the promise of universal health coverage, is already drowning in scandal. For Kenyans, the betrayal could not be clearer.
