President William Ruto has reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring equity across the country, stating that his administration will not be deterred by criticism. Speaking on Friday at the burial ceremony of Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa, father to Senate Speaker Amason Kingi, the President made it clear that he remains steadfast in his efforts to distribute resources and opportunities fairly across Kenya.

“And I want to say that I am committed, I am unapologetic about making sure that there is equity in the Republic of Kenya,” Ruto declared.

The Head of State acknowledged that his push for equity has sparked opposition but insisted that he will not back down.

“I have taken many steps to ensure that there is equity in our republic. There are many people who are angry because we are looking for equity, and I want to apologize to them; sorry, we will get it,” he said.

His remarks come in the wake of his recent tour of the North Eastern region, where he addressed concerns about historical marginalization. During the visit, he emphasized that the region has long been sidelined in national development and vowed to address the disparities.

The President’s renewed call for equity underscores his administration’s focus on inclusive governance, even as some critics question the feasibility of his plans. However, the President remains resolute, maintaining that every region deserves equal attention and development.

With equity at the center of his agenda, the President’s remarks signal a push to bridge the gap between historically disadvantaged areas and the rest of the country. His statement also sends a strong message to those opposing his efforts, as he reassures Kenyans that his government will not relent in its pursuit of fairness and justice.
