Mweleko TV hosts Tony Nyakoko and Fridah Mong’are have shared how Mweleko Insights goes about its research and why the findings matter to ordinary Kenyans.

Speaking during a Mwelekeo Insights podcast on YouTube, Mong’are asked Tony to explain the process and whether the studies follow the right practices.

In response, Tony said that research takes a lot of care and effort. “Research is expensive. Findings come after a very rigorous process, and behind that process is a dedicated team of individuals,” he explained.

He added that the team takes time to prepare questions, select people who fairly represent different communities, and then collect the data in a way that ensures trust.

Tony said the goal of their work is not just about numbers but also about helping people understand issues that affect their daily lives.

“We want to show why research matters to the common person,” he noted, saying that good information allows both leaders and communities to make better decisions.

That notwithstanding, Mwelekeo Insights has in the past carried out studies that opened up conversations across the country.

One such study found that more than half of men felt that bride price was too heavy a demand and often caused tension between families.

Another revealed that many young people in towns saw unemployment as a bigger problem than corruption, a view that helped shape how leaders looked at priorities.

“These are not abstract numbers; they are reflections of lived realities that demand action,” Tony explained.

As the discussion came to a close, Mong’are pointed out that research of this kind plays an important role in building understanding.

For Mwelekeo Insights, the aim is clear. It is to listen carefully, collect stories through data, and make sure that decisions about the future are based on truth and not on guesswork.
