A son of a deceased Homa Bay County supplier has publicly appealed to Governor Gladys Wanga, accusing the county government of failing to settle a debt allegedly owed to his late father despite repeated promises of payment.
In a series of WhatsApp messages shared online, the man identified as Maina KE expressed frustration over what he described as years of waiting for payment.
He claimed the delayed settlement contributed to emotional and financial hardship for his family following his father’s death.
The screenshots show Maina confronting the governor over the matter, telling her that “patience killed my father” and urging the county leadership to take action instead of continuing to ask the family to wait.

According to the messages, Governor Wanga responded by asking for “just a little patience,” prompting Maina to seek a more concrete commitment regarding the payment timeline.
In a subsequent Facebook post, Maina said he had remained respectful and patient throughout the process and had previously been a strong public supporter of the governor.
“This patience killed my father. I don’t want to be patient and go in that path. I want a demonstration of action. Just pay us like you have promised many many times,” he wrote.
The case has reignited debate on delayed payments to suppliers and contractors by county governments.

Reports and public complaints in the past have highlighted concerns over pending bills in Homa Bay County, with contractors and suppliers occasionally demanding settlement of outstanding dues.
Governor Wanga has previously served as Homa Bay Governor since 2022 and is also the national chairperson of ODM.
As of publication, the exact amount allegedly owed to the deceased supplier had not been disclosed publicly, and Homa Bay County Government had not issued an official statement responding to Maina’s latest claims.
