The poll, conducted by research firm Mwelekeo Insights, placed businessman and politician Ali Menza Mbogo second with 33.3 per cent, narrowing the gap between the two leading contenders to 6.6 percentage points.

Former journalist and Wiper politician Mohamed Ali, popularly known as Jicho Pevu, emerged third with 19.3 per cent support, according to the final results published by Mwelekeo Insights.

The digital poll closed on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, as political activity continues to build ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Mbogo, who is associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement, followed with 33.3 per cent, while Mohamed Ali secured 19.3 per cent.

The results suggest a closely contested race among the leading candidates, with the three collectively accounting for the overwhelming majority of support recorded in the digital survey.

Other candidates who featured in the poll included Suleiman Shahbal of ODM, who recorded 3.7 per cent, and UDA’s Hassan Omar, who garnered 3.3 per cent.

The latest survey provides an early snapshot of the political landscape in Mombasa, although voting is still months away and the field of candidates, party alignments and campaign dynamics could change before the 2027 election.

Nassir was elected Mombasa governor in 2022 on an ODM ticket, succeeding Hassan Joho, who had served two terms in the position.
