The People’s Liberation Party (PLP) Leader Martha Karua has slammed President William Ruto over his latest claim that Members of Parliament siphoned KSh150 million during the ouster hearing of Isiolo Governor Abdi Guyo.
Taking to her X handle, Karua shared an undated video clip of President Ruto making hefty church donations, questioning the source of billions casually splashed in religious events, campaigns, and political handouts.
“When Ruto questions how one can access KSh150M that belongs to the county, we must ask much bigger questions: Where do the billions donated in churches and campaigns really come from?” Karua posed.
The former Justice Minister accused Ruto of practicing selective outrage by pointing fingers at MPs while ignoring scandals under his administration. She insisted that accountability begins at the top and leaders cannot feign ignorance when public funds vanish.
“Corruption is not only what your opponents do; it is also about what happens under your watch. If you are in charge of a ministry or the nation, you cannot claim innocence while billions disappear. Accountability means taking full responsibility,” she said.

Karua further reminded Kenyans that she had publicly called out Ruto over corruption allegations more than a decade ago, yet the same issues persist today. She lamented that Kenya continues to suffer because citizens elect leaders without demanding integrity or proven competence.
“The cycle has not broken because we keep entrusting individuals with positions they are unprepared for or unwilling to serve honorably. The result is scandal after scandal, with ordinary Kenyans left to suffer,” Karua remarked.
She outlined three steps necessary to combat graft: leaders must demonstrate integrity before assuming office, budgets and decisions must be open to scrutiny, and unexplained wealth must no longer be excused.
Karua urged Kenyans to break the cycle by demanding accountability across all levels of government, warning that corruption will continue to thrive unless top leaders set the right example.
“The tide of corruption is strong, but we cannot allow it to define us as a nation,” she declared.
