Mugithi singer Samuel Muchoki, better known as Samidoh, has told a Nairobi court that he believes his nephew, the late Jeff Mwathi, did not take his own life.

While testifying before Milimani Magistrate Rose Ndumbi on Monday, August 11, 2025, Samidoh said he suspects Jeff was pushed from DJ Fatxo’s house.

He explained that he had visited the apartment on February 23, 2023, and was not convinced Jeff could have jumped through the window, especially because it had grills.

According to Samidoh, part of the window grill was slightly larger, yet he still felt it was unlikely for someone to pass through without help. He added that when he visited, Jeff’s body had already been moved and the police had not secured the house as a crime scene.

Moreover, he noted that the bed in the room was positioned at the centre, unlike what DJ Fatxo had said. He ruled out the possibility that Jeff could have used the bed to climb out of the window.

Samidoh also told the court that he had known Jeff since he was two years old and had never seen signs of suicidal thoughts. Furthermore, he said there was no serious conflict between Jeff and his parents.

Importantly, the singer made it clear that he had no intention of framing DJ Fatxo, who he described as his mentee in the music industry. He said he had supported DJ Fatxo’s career and would not try to ruin it over such a sensitive matter.

All the same, it remains to be seen how the wheel of Justice will roll over the Jeff Mwathi issue because a similar initiative had been kickstarted last year and it went silence.

There were unverified reports that those behind the death of the young man were deeply connected to the powers that may be.
