Police have apprehended two persons of interest in connection with a series of robberies in Kamulu, recovering mobile phones, laptops and other property believed to have been stolen.
In a statement on Sunday, September 27, 2026, the National Police Service (NPS) said officers traced the two after several days of investigations into the incidents.
Recovered property
Officers from Kamulu Police Station raided a rented house on Saturday, September 26, 2026, where the two were believed to have been residing.
Police said the search led to the recovery of several items thought to be connected to the robberies.
According to NPS, the two subsequently provided information that directed investigators to other locations within Kayole Township.
Officers recovered additional property from those locations, where police said the items had been stashed.
The service listed 30 mobile phones and three laptops among the items recovered during the operation.
“The recoveries included 30 mobile phones, three laptops, a motorcycle, a sound system, a television set, several identity cards, SIM cards and token meters,” NPS said.
The statement did not provide a breakdown of which items were recovered from the Kamulu house and which were found in Kayole.
NPS described the operation as a major breakthrough in investigations into the series of robberies.
Pending arraignment
The two persons of interest remain in police custody pending arraignment, according to the service.
All the recovered items have been secured as exhibits. The statement did not specify the charges the two would face or when they would appear in court.
NPS said it was continuing to strengthen crime prevention and enforcement through intelligence gathering, investigations and targeted operations.
The service also appealed to members of the public to share information about suspicious activities with officers.
“We urge the public to continue sharing information regarding any suspicious activities by reporting to the nearest police station,” NPS said.
