Today, a wave of emotion swept through Kariobangi North as residents gathered for a candlelight vigil in memory of the late Joel Munuve, who served the community as their MCA for 2 years and 8 months.
The vigil, held at Kariobangi North MCA office, drew scores of residents, friends, and colleagues who came to honor a man remembered for his humility, approachability, and deep commitment to uplifting the ward.
“He wasn’t just a leader; he was one of us,” said one resident, holding a candle tightly. “Joel walked with us through struggles through victories. He truly cared.”
During his tenure, Munuve was especially praised for championing youth empowerment and advocating for improved infrastructure in the area. Community members fondly recalled his open-door policy, often referring to him as “mtu wa ground”.
As candles lit up the evening sky, the pain of loss was mingled with gratitude for a life that left a lasting impact. Residents vowed to continue his legacy and called on leaders to emulate his servant leadership.
Joel Munuve’s memory lives on, not only in the projects he initiated but in the hearts of the people he served.
