A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party-allied MPs on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, warned Governor Johnson Sakaja against ignoring the counsel given to him by President William Ruto and ODM Party Leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking to the media in Nairobi, the leaders, who included Makadara MP George Aladwa, Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris, and Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi, urged the governor to mend relations with Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) after surviving a possible ouster.

Aladwa puts Sakaja on notice
Makadara MP George Aladwa told the governor to seize the lifeline and prove to Nairobians that he can deliver.
“Kwa Governor Sakaja, sasa mpira iko kwako. Ni sasa ujumuike, uweze kubadilika.
“Tuone kwamba yale mambo imesemwa, malalamishi yaliwekwa jana imeweza kudumishwa na ma MCAs pia, warudi kwa mitaa wafanye kazi,” Aladwa said.
The legislator maintained that Nairobi leaders had already done their part to shield him, and it was now up to Sakaja to avoid further conflict with the Assembly.

Esther Passaris’ message
On her part, Woman Representative Esther Passaris said Nairobi’s residents expected urgent solutions, not political drama.
“There is so much that needs to be done. So let us pray that the President and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will give him a lifeline, but that lifeline should not be taken for granted because he could end up in ICU, back in HDU,” Passaris remarked.
She stressed that the people of Nairobi had endured enough challenges, from poor healthcare to rising insecurity, and warned that continued wrangles would only worsen the situation.
Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi called for sobriety, warning that fighting within City Hall was a national risk.

“It is very critical to destabilise instead of helping. That is the challenge many countries are facing. If you destabilise Nairobi, you destabilise Kenya,” Elachi said.
The three lawmakers appealed to Sakaja to use the opportunity to rebuild trust and concentrate on service delivery.
Their message comes a day after 80 MCAs signed a motion seeking his removal, only for intervention by the State House and Raila Odinga’s Capitol Hill office to rescue him.
