Nick Mararo’s bid for the Nyeri County Senate seat is gaining visibility after he emerged first in a September 2026 senatorial poll conducted by Politrack Africa, putting him ahead of several established political figures.

The poll, which asked respondents who they would vote for if the Nyeri senatorial election were held at the time of the survey, placed Mararo at 22.7%, with King’ori Wanjohi following closely at 20.0%. The published poll had a sample of 3,619 responses.

Mararo takes lead

The numbers place Mararo at the front of a competitive field, giving his Senate bid increased prominence as political activity ahead of the 2027 General Election gathers pace.

According to the Politrack Africa results, Governor Mutahi Kahiga came third with 14.5%, while Vincent Wamae followed almost level at 14.4%.

Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando recorded 13.9%, while Priscilla Nyokabi stood at 8.9%. Undecided respondents accounted for 4.0%, with other choices collectively receiving 1.6%.

The narrow gap between Mararo and Wanjohi also indicates that the race remains competitive rather than settled. Opinion polls represent voter sentiment during a particular survey period and are not election results.

Senate ambition grows

For Mararo, however, topping the September survey provides a measurable boost to a political bid that is increasingly attracting attention in Nyeri.

His emergence ahead of politicians with established public profiles places him firmly among the names shaping early discussion around who could represent Nyeri in the Senate after the 2027 election.

Mararo has built his public profile through community engagements and initiatives targeting young people, while publicly emphasising issues including jobs, entrepreneurship and local development.

With the election still months away, voter preferences can change significantly as candidates declare parties, coalitions take shape and campaigns intensify.

For now, however, the Politrack Africa September 2026 poll puts Nick Mararo at 22.7%, the highest percentage recorded among the listed choices, giving his Nyeri Senate campaign an early numerical lead.
