Marion Naipei, the 23-year-old single mother whose name recently dominated online discussions following the circulation of a leaked club video, has for the first time shared details about how she met US-based medic James Opande, the man she accuses of leaking the footage.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Marion said she met Opande through Tinder, a popular online dating platform, where the two connected before arranging an in-person meeting.
According to Marion, Opande was married at the time but actively used the dating app to interact with young women. She claimed their interaction later led to the encounter captured in the viral video.
Marion also opened up about her personal life, revealing that she became a mother at 19 years old following what she described as a casual encounter. She said raising her son as a single parent has been challenging, especially in light of the recent public scrutiny triggered by the leaked footage.
The video, which shows Marion in a vulnerable state at a Nairobi club, sparked widespread debate online, with questions raised over consent, privacy, and accountability.
Marion has since reported the matter to the police, maintaining that the recording and circulation of the footage violated her rights.
