Activist and Mbunge La Mwananchi movement loyalist Joakim Simiyu has claimed that ODM party leader Hon. Raila Odinga is likely to sever political ties with President William Ruto before the 2027 General Election in a bid to salvage his dwindling popularity and remain politically relevant.
During a live interview that has since gone viral online, Joakim alleged that Raila’s association with Ruto’s government is one of the key factors damaging his long-held image as a fierce opposition leader. He suggested that Raila risks losing the trust of his base if he continues aligning himself with the Kenya Kwanza regime.

Joakim further stated that Raila is fully aware that walking into the 2027 elections alongside Ruto would undermine his political influence. He added that Raila’s image as a fearless opposition voice has already suffered and that abandoning Ruto early would be the only way to regain credibility.
The activist also predicted a dramatic political shake-up within ODM leadership. He claimed that a joint resignation is looming involving key Cabinet Secretaries and allies believed to be close to Raila. Among those he named were CS Hassan Joho, CS John Mbadi, Wycliffe Oparanya, and National Assembly Minority Leader James Opiyo Wandayi.
According to Joakim, these high-profile resignations would be strategic moves aimed at distancing themselves from the Kenya Kwanza administration before the campaign season gains momentum.
He also claimed that the leaders in question are preparing to exit government positions to avoid being branded as traitors by their respective constituencies. He framed the resignations as part of a broader plan for Raila to reposition himself in the opposition or as a key power broker in the next political transition.
