Metito returns to the centre of Kajiado politics
Metito’s position in the poll brings fresh attention to his political journey, particularly his performance in the 2022 gubernatorial election.
During that election, Metito contested the seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket but narrowly lost to Governor Joseph Ole Lenku of ODM.

The election was decided by a margin of less than two percentage points, placing Metito among the strongest challengers in the county’s previous governor contest.
His latest position in the Mwelekeo Insights rankings brings his name back into the spotlight as the 2027 General Election approaches.
Metito previously served as Kajiado South MP and held several senior government positions, including Minister for Internal Security and State House Comptroller.
Kajiado’s 2022 election offers fresh context
According to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Kajiado had more than 463,000 registered voters during the 2022 General Election.

In 2022, Lenku secured re-election ahead of Metito and former Governor David Nkedianye.
Lenku’s victory was subsequently upheld by the High Court following an election petition.
