City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi has lashed out at a section of politicians allied to President William Ruto, warning them that any attempt to tamper with the 2027 presidential election outcome will be futile.

In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, August 4, 2025, the outspoken Senior Counsel dismissed claims by some Kenya Kwanza politicians suggesting that they could manipulate the next general election in favour of the president.

“Those clueless politicians who say they will steal votes for President Ruto in 2027—and the stupid replies from their opponents—must all know that it’s IMPOSSIBLE to steal elections in Kenya,” Ahmednasir wrote.

He argued that once votes are counted and results are declared at the polling station, the election is effectively over, leaving no room for manipulation during the transmission or tallying stages.

“Once the result is declared in a polling station, the election is over. The subsequent steps are clerical and insignificant,” he added.

The prominent lawyer, known for his blunt public commentary, went further to say that Kenya’s electoral system has reached a point where judicial scrutiny rarely overturns results.

“Lawyers and judges know that Kenyan election is 99% foolproof. That is why 99.9% of election petitions fail in courts,” he observed.

His statement comes in the wake of controversial remarks made by several Kenya Kwanza lawmakers that have ignited public concern over electoral integrity.

During a dowry ceremony in Baringo on Saturday, August 3, Tiaty MP William Kamket made headlines when he declared:

“Oscar and I say harsh things. He says ‘if the ballot box does not fill up, we will add.’ I say it in another way… if the votes are not enough, we will ensure that they are enough, whatever comes may.”

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, who was present at the same event, attempted to clarify but appeared to echo the sentiment:

“We shall add votes into the ballot box. But we will add only votes, not anything else.”

Just weeks earlier, Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Jehow stirred outrage during a grassroots meeting when she stated:

“Even if we don’t have the votes, we will steal for Ruto… that is not a secret.”

These remarks have triggered backlash from both civil society and the IEBC, which has termed them reckless and dangerous. Ahmednasir’s sharp intervention now adds legal weight to the mounting calls for political sobriety as the country prepares for the 2027 polls.
