City tycoon and Nairobi’s 2027 gubernatorial hopeful has commended the Nairobi youth for their passion, discipline, and ability to inspire others through sports.
Agnes Kagure, who has increasingly positioned herself as a champion for the empowerment of young people, presided over the close of a football tournament where she awarded the winning team, Bunge FC.
Kagure described the moment as more than a sporting event, highlighting its role in shaping the lives of young people.
“Today, I had the joy of meeting and awarding Bunge FC at the close of our football tournament.
“Beyond the trophies and awards, I’m amazed by the passion and discipline that our young people continue to show on and off the pitch,” she said.
She further emphasised the broader value of sports, pointing to its ability to transform lives beyond the playing field.

“Sports remain one of the best avenues for nurturing talent, building character, and shaping responsible leaders of tomorrow, and we’ll roll out more tournaments so that all Nairobi youth can shine, thrive, and inspire others,” Kagure added.
The youthful Bunge FC team, which walked away with the top award, was hailed as “mabingwa” by Kagure, who praised their teamwork and resilience throughout the competition. “Congrats Mabingwa Bunge FC,” she wrote while celebrating their victory.
Observers note that Kagure’s growing involvement in youth empowerment, especially through initiatives that promote sports, is part of her larger agenda to engage communities directly and respond to the aspirations of Nairobi residents.
By pledging to support more tournaments, she sends a clear message that opportunities for growth and recognition among young people will remain central to her plans.

With sports gaining renewed attention as a unifying force, Kagure’s engagement is expected to widen her reach ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest.
