Renowned media personality Alex Mwakideu has long kept his family life away from the public eye, choosing to focus on his work while protecting his marriage from unnecessary scrutiny.
However, the celebrated radio host offered fans a rare glimpse into his personal life as he marked 11 years of marriage with his wife, Mariam Mwenba, reflecting on their journey with gratitude and honesty.
Taking to social media, Mwakideu celebrated the milestone with a heartfelt message, thanking God for answering his prayers and blessing him with a life partner who has walked with him through both good and difficult times.
“Today, as we celebrate 11 years of marriage, I celebrate you, my wife. I thank God for this precious gift, because I prayed and He answered,” he wrote.
The couple’s love story spans nearly two decades. Mwakideu revealed that he first pursued Mariam in 2006, but she turned him down for eight years due to his lack of commitment at the time.
It was not until 2014, after he relocated to Nairobi and proved his seriousness, that Mariam agreed to marry him.
Over the years, the two have also been open about managing their finances together, with Mwakideu previously sharing that having a joint bank account has helped them build trust and transparency.
Despite their strong bond, the marriage has not been without challenges. Speaking candidly on his YouTube channel during a conversation with Kush Tracy, a secular-turned-gospel minister, Mwakideu disclosed that there was a time his wife nearly walked away.
He credited Pastor Njoro for intervening at a critical moment, saying his counsel helped save the union when it was on the brink of collapse.
Kush Tracy praised Mwakideu for opening up, noting that his testimony could inspire many couples facing similar struggles.
The revelations came shortly after controversial commentator Andrew Kibe criticised Mwakideu for celebrating his anniversary, remarks the radio host appeared unfazed by as he stood firm in defending his marriage and faith journey.
