LipaLikes, one of the leading social media platforms in Kenya and Africa at large, has successfully organised another sporting event that saw winners walk away with rewards, even as the company continues to redefine grassroots sports development in the country.
Through his official Facebook page on December 27, Nick Mararo, the LipaLikes Chief Executive Officer, stated that the platform remains committed to identifying and nurturing talent at the community level, where many Kenyan sports stars begin their journeys.
The post, which was accompanied by photos from the event, highlighted a volleyball tournament sponsored by LipaLikes and held in Weru Ward.

The tournament attracted teams and residents from the area and culminated in the crowning of a winning team, which was rewarded for its performance.
According to Mararo, such community-based tournaments reflect the reality that Kenya’s greatest sporting talent often emerges far from major stadiums, instead taking shape on dusty courts, open fields and local playgrounds.
“Kenya’s greatest talent doesn’t always start in stadiums but on dusty courts, open fields, and community grounds. At Base Yetu and LipaLikes, we believe the future of Kenyan sports is being shaped right there at the grassroots.
“That’s why we continue to invest in volleyball and other games because potential deserves opportunity,” Mararo said on Facebook.
Beyond sports, Mararo noted that LipaLikes is steadily transforming how Kenyans earn a living in the digital space.

The platform allows users to generate income by simply posting content such as photos, reels and social media updates, creating new opportunities for youths, creatives and everyday hustlers.
Consequently, LipaLikes has grown into a favourite in many Kenyan households, driven by its strong community focus. Over the years, the platform has sponsored local sporting activities and partnered with organisations such as the NTSA to promote responsible road use.
As LipaLikes continues to expand its footprint across Kenya and beyond, Mararo said the company remains focused on empowering communities, supporting talent and ensuring opportunities reach even the most remote areas.
