Nairobi businesswoman and philanthropist Agnes Kagure has touched many hearts after sponsoring several community groups from the capital to visit the resting place of the late ODM leader Raila Odinga in Bondo, Siaya County.
The groups, made up of youth and women leaders from different wards in Nairobi, travelled earlier this week to pay tribute to the man Kenyans fondly refer to as Baba.

Kagure, who has long identified herself with the ideals of unity and service, said the gesture was her small way of honouring Raila’s legacy and inspiring others to keep his spirit alive.
“I was inspired by Baba’s courage and vision for Kenya. His politics went beyond boundaries and taught us to dream bigger.
“Supporting Nairobians to visit his resting place is both symbolic and personal, it’s about gratitude and continuity,” the tycoon wrote on X.

According to those who made the trip, the initiative brought together people from different walks of life who shared a common belief in peaceful coexistence and national unity.
Many expressed admiration for Kagure’s generosity and humility, describing her as a leader who genuinely understands the struggles of ordinary citizens.
“She didn’t just send us—she made us feel seen and supported,” said one youth leader from Mathare. “Her actions speak louder than politics.”
The delegation laid flowers and offered prayers at Baba’s gravesite, taking time to reflect on the values of integrity and sacrifice he embodied throughout his career.

Kagure’s name has increasingly become synonymous with hope and community empowerment in Nairobi. Over the years, she has supported various social programs, from women’s economic initiatives to youth mentorship forums, earning her a loyal following across the city’s 17 constituencies.
As 2027 draws closer, many see her as a frontrunner for the Nairobi governor seat, someone who blends compassion, business acumen, and people-first leadership.
Her latest act in honour of Baba, quietly done and widely felt, once again reflects the kind of leader Nairobi residents say they want: present, empathetic, and driven by purpose.
