Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has launched a scathing attack on Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja following fresh protests over delayed salaries for county workers.

Through his official social media accounts on Wednesday, September 17, Babu hit out at Sakaja using sharp words that have since ignited debate across the capital.

“From Nairobi CITY county to Nairobi SHITTY county under the leadership of half a man, half a woman. WamaGarbage,” Babu wrote.

His remarks followed a strong notice from the Kenya County Government Workers Union (KCGWU) to county staff over unpaid wages.

According to the letter dated September 17, 2025, the union accused the Nairobi County Government of failing to pay workers their July and August salaries, despite a signed agreement that payments would be made by the 5th of every month.

“It’s quite unfortunate that today, being the 17th of September 2025, Nairobi County staff are yet to receive their third party remittances of July 2025 and August 2025 salaries and there are no signs when these salaries will be paid. This is gross contravention of the Return to Work agreement,” the statement read in part.

The union further advised workers to stop normal duties until their dues are cleared.

“ADVISE our members to SLOW DOWN their services to the county and those unable to commute to duty to STAY AT HOME until salaries are credited to their accounts,” the notice stated.

The standoff now threatens to cripple county services including garbage collection, health facilities, and revenue offices. With workers staying away from duty, pressure is mounting on Governor Sakaja to address the salary delays immediately.

Babu Owino’s attack adds to growing political heat on the Nairobi Governor as the crisis deepens.
