President William Ruto has announced that the Endebess Sub-County Hospital Mother and Child Complex in Trans Nzoia County will be completed by the end of December 2026.

Speaking during his visit to the county on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as Kenya marked Mazingira Day, Ruto expressed satisfaction with the progress of the facility, which is currently 88 per cent complete.

“Impressed by the progress of the Endebess Sub-County Hospital Mother and Child Complex in Trans Nzoia County, which is 88 per cent complete and scheduled for completion at the end of the year,” Ruto stated.

The President said the facility will feature a radiology unit to be equipped under the National Equipment Service Programme, an accident and emergency unit, a maternal and child health wing, and an outpatient department.

It will also accommodate a 26-bed maternity unit and 54 cots for newborns, significantly expanding the hospital’s capacity to provide maternal and neonatal healthcare services.

According to Ruto, the project is expected to address longstanding healthcare challenges in Trans Nzoia County by bringing specialised medical services closer to residents.

“It will address longstanding healthcare challenges in the county by expanding access to quality, specialised maternal and child healthcare services and bringing essential medical care closer to the people,” he stated.

The development comes as the government seeks to strengthen maternal and newborn healthcare services across the country.

During the visit, Ruto also confirmed that the government had released a further Ksh140 million to support the completion of the hospital project by December 2026.

The hospital is expected to improve access to maternity, emergency and newborn care for residents of Endebess and surrounding areas, reducing the need for patients to seek specialised services at distant facilities.
