Nick Mararo, an aspiring Nyeri County Senator, has intensified his grassroots engagements by meeting traders and small business owners in Nyeri Town as he seeks to build closer ties with residents.
During the visit, Mararo interacted with traders operating in different parts of the town, listening to their concerns and ideas on how leadership can better support small businesses.
He noted that the town’s traders play a major role in sustaining the local economy despite the many challenges they face.
“As part of my continuous engagement with our people, I spent time with business owners in Nyeri Town, the men and women who open their doors early, close late, and quietly keep our economy moving,” Mararo said.
Listening to grassroots voices
Mararo observed that many small-scale entrepreneurs often operate behind the scenes, yet their work affects everyday life in the county.
“Though often overlooked, their contribution touches our lives every day,” he added.
According to the aspiring senator, engaging directly with businesspeople helps leaders understand the realities faced by ordinary Kenyans.
He said meaningful policies can only be developed when leaders take time to listen to those working on the ground.
“I believe the strongest policies are shaped by the voices of those doing the real work on the ground,” Mararo said.
During the interaction, traders shared concerns about the cost of doing business, access to markets, and the need for supportive county policies that can help small enterprises grow.
Mararo assured them that their views would remain central to his approach to leadership.
