The Maasai Mara national reserve is set to have a state-of-the-art gate according to Narok county governor Patrick Ole Ntutu. According to the governor who made a visit to the national treasure to inspect and assess the ongoing project, the architectural design of the gate was done by Void studios, a UK-based architectural firm and with its theme rich in the native Masai culture.

The company won the contract to do the job on merit after beating over 100 submissions received from 32 countries and tourism enthusiasts across the globe.

“The design contract for this significant project has been awarded to Void Studios, a UK-based architectural firm that emerged as the winner of a prestigious competition organized by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). Void Studios’ design was selected from 100 submissions across 32 countries, distinguishing itself through its innovative fusion of traditional Maasai patterns with contemporary architectural elements. This approach not only pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of the Maasai people but also integrates modern aesthetics to create a welcoming and immersive environment for visitors,” Ole Ntutu wrote on Facebook.

Kenya boosts of the Mara as a prestigious tourist attraction site and has continued to earn the country a substantial revenue over the years with the governor maintaining that the government is focused in making the reserve more appealing and attractive to its guests.

As we advance with this project, we reaffirm our commitment to positioning the Masai Mara as a world-class tourism destination, strengthening conservation efforts, and supporting local communities. The completion of this Tourist Information Center will stand as a testament to the power of collaboration in fostering regional growth, sustainability, and cultural preservation,” he added on his Facebook post.
