Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has left many Kenyans talking after he posted something on Facebook that has made people start asking serious questions.
In his post, Babu shared a screenshot from NTV that mentioned the late Kariobangi North MCA, Joel Munuve. The post also showed that Munuve was among the MCAs who had started pushing for Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja to be impeached before he passed away.
Now people are joining the dots. Was it just bad luck that Munuve died right when he was questioning Sakaja? Or is there something more behind it?

What’s making things even worse is the latest report from the Auditor General. The report shows that Nairobi County is full of money problems. Some things just don’t add up at all.
For example, the county says it paid Kshs 9 billion in pending bills but can’t explain how or to who. Another Kshs 5 billion is missing between what the financial books say and what the actual ledger shows. Even Kshs 3.2 billion in revenue accounts seems to have disappeared like air.
It also says floodlights were “bought” at Kshs 60.8 million, but no one ever saw them. They were never delivered. Then there’s the shocking part about ghost workers. The county claimed it paid salaries worth Kshs 11.2 billion, but banks and payroll systems show only Kshs 8.8 billion was actually paid.

So, where did the other Kshs 2.2 billion go?
Even worse, 46 payments amounting to Kshs 226 million were done from the salary account with no reason and no supporting documents. Another Kshs 561 million is sitting in 43 bank accounts, and no one knows what it’s for or how it got there.
As this financial mess explodes, the sudden death of Joel Munuve is making some Nairobians raise their eyebrows. People are now asking, “Was he silenced because he spoke too loudly?”
Of course, there is no proof, and no one is pointing fingers. But Kenyans know how things happen in this country. Sometimes, when someone starts asking hard questions, they go silent suddenly.
Maybe it was just a coincidence. Maybe not.
All we know is that Joel Munuve was standing up to the Nairobi County government, and now he’s gone.
The questions are hanging in the air. The numbers don’t lie. But who will fill in the blanks?
