Fresh row as UDA diehards trade words over alleged London hospitalization

A new public spat has erupted between Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and Senator Tabitha Karanja, deepening an already strained relationship between the two leaders.

The row began after Governor Kihika, who recently returned to Kenya from the U.S. where she had travelled for maternity, claimed that Senator Karanja was unwell and receiving treatment in a London hospital.

“I want to wish a quick recovery to Senator Tabitha. I know she is in a hospital in London.

“I was taught if someone is sick and you do not agree with one another, you are not supposed to punch someone who is down. I want the Senator to know that children are a blessing from God, and there will be no instance where we cannot have children because we are leaders,” Kihika said.

Kihika’s remarks appeared to touch on past criticism she received from Karanja and others, who questioned her decision to travel abroad for childbirth while Nakuru’s healthcare system faces major challenges.

Senator Karanja, however, denied being hospitalised and hit back strongly at Kihika’s claims.

“I have taken this opportunity to step away from my busy schedule for a brief vacation in London,” she said. “I am in excellent health, full of energy, and fully prepared to resume my oversight duties next week. I thank God I am not sick, I am not in hospital, and I have not been hospitalised.”

Karanja blamed “fake news” on paid bloggers and social media influencers, whom she accused of being sponsored by county officials.

The exchange has drawn public attention, with residents questioning whether the growing personal rivalry is affecting leadership in Nakuru. As the county struggles with real issues like poor healthcare, many are calling for both leaders to focus more on service and less on political drama.
