Former Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Faith Odhiambo has officially entered the race for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat, setting the stage for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest in the next General Election.
The announcement was made on Saturday by James Orengo, who confirmed Odhiambo’s political ambitions after hosting her at his office.
The development follows weeks of speculation about her next move after becoming increasingly associated with the Linda Mwananchi movement, a faction linked to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Orengo praised Odhiambo’s record as a lawyer and public figure, describing her as a courageous advocate for justice who has consistently stood up for citizens’ rights. He noted that her support for Gen Z protesters and peaceful demonstrators during recent public protests reflected the kind of leadership that many Kenyans have been calling for.
According to Orengo, Odhiambo’s decision to join the Linda Mwananchi movement strengthens efforts to promote accountable leadership and expand opportunities for women in politics. He argued that her entry into elective politics comes at a time when Nairobi residents are seeking leaders who can independently represent their interests without being influenced by political pressure.
“Faith Odhiambo is a proven defender of justice whose fearless stand for Gen Z and peaceful protestors showed the true meaning of leadership,” Orengo stated.
He further endorsed her bid for the Nairobi Woman Representative position, saying the city needs leaders who can provide an independent voice in Parliament and remain committed to public service.
“Her bid for Nairobi Woman Representative comes at the perfect time. Nairobians deserve an incorruptible voice, and Faith is exactly that,” he added.
Odhiambo’s declaration effectively ends months of uncertainty about her political future. Earlier this month, she was formally welcomed into the Linda Mwananchi movement by Edwin Sifuna, who shared images of her alongside key figures within the group and members of its campaign team.

Her decision to seek the Nairobi Woman Representative seat is expected to significantly influence political alignments in the capital ahead of the elections.
The position has already attracted several prominent contenders, making it one of the most closely watched races in Nairobi.
Among those who have publicly expressed interest in the seat is Tabitha Mutinda, a nominated senator who currently serves as the vice chairperson of the Senate Finance Committee. Another notable contender is Millicent Omanga, who unsuccessfully contested for the same position during the 2022 General Election.
Odhiambo became a nationally recognized figure during her tenure as LSK president, where she frequently spoke on issues related to constitutionalism, human rights, public debt accountability, and the rule of law.
Her outspoken approach earned her both supporters and critics, but also established her as one of the country’s most visible legal and governance voices.
She also drew national attention in 2024 when she declined an appointment to President William Ruto’s Public Debt Audit Task Force. At the time, she argued that the proposed assignment duplicated responsibilities already assigned to existing constitutional institutions.
With her official entry into the race now confirmed, attention is expected to shift toward how her legal background, public profile, and reform-focused messaging will shape the contest for the Nairobi Woman Representative seat as political campaigns gradually gather momentum ahead of the next General Election.
