Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that he was not in charge of security operations when some supporters of the Azimio la Umoja Coalition were attacked.
Speaking during an interview on Ramogi TV, the former deputy president said that the President was in charge of security, adding that the current Deputy President, His Excellency Kithure Kindiki, and Interior PS Raymond Omollo were in charge.
“I was not in charge of security operations. The way security works in this country is that the President is the chairman of the National Security Council. He appoints all the security chiefs who report to him directly. The deputy president has no say in security operations except if directed by the president or if the president is leaving the country and leaves directives to his deputy,” Rigathi Gachagua said.
Rigathi also called on the Luo community to back the opposition in the upcoming general elections in Kenya, alleging that President William Ruto is going to betray the community after the 2027 election.
The former deputy president affirmed that he has no ill motive against the Luo community, arguing that he is trying to tell them what will happen once they elect President Ruto.
