U.S. President Donald Trump has pledged to purchase a brand-new Tesla to show support for Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who has faced increasing political and corporate backlash.
Taking to his Truth Social platform just after midnight on Tuesday, Trump praised Musk for his contributions to the country while criticizing efforts to boycott Tesla.
“To Republicans, Conservatives, and all great Americans, Elon Musk is ‘putting it on the line’ to help our Nation, and he is doing a FANTASTIC JOB!” Trump wrote.
He went on to condemn what he described as a coordinated attack against the billionaire entrepreneur.
“But the Radical Left Lunatics, as they often do, are trying to illegally and collusively boycott Tesla—one of the world’s great automakers and Elon’s ‘baby’—in order to attack and do harm to Elon and everything he stands for,” he stated.
Declaring his support, Trump revealed his plan to purchase a Tesla.
“I’m going to buy a brand-new Tesla tomorrow morning as a show of confidence and support for Elon Musk, a truly great American. Why should he be punished for putting his tremendous skills to work to help MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN???” he questioned.

Since returning to the White House in January, Trump has appointed Musk to lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), tasking him with cutting federal government spending and reducing agency workforces.
However, Musk’s cost-cutting measures have sparked resistance, with protests, legal challenges, and opposition from lawmakers slowing down some of his initiatives.
Meanwhile, Tesla has faced backlash from investors and customers, with concerns that Musk’s political involvement and ties to Trump could harm the automaker’s brand. Some Tesla owners have expressed regret over their purchases, citing Musk’s increasing political stance, support for Trump, and endorsements of far-right parties in Europe.
As controversy over Musk’s government role and business decisions grows, Trump’s vocal endorsement may further fuel the debate over Tesla’s future amid the country’s deepening political divide.
