A conversation about success and public perception has been sparked online after fashion designer Bolo Bespoke shared his thoughts on how wealth is often viewed in Kenya.
Speaking openly, Bolo addressed what he sees as a negative habit where people who show signs of financial success are quickly judged and accused of wrongdoing. His message came at a time when social media discussions around money, success, and lifestyle choices continue to grow.
Bolo shared his views through a TikTok video posted on Saturday, December 13, 2025.
The video was a reaction to a moment of celebration involving his close friend, businessman Austine Waziri, who had just bought a high-end Toyota Land Cruiser V8. Instead of simply celebrating the achievement, Bolo felt the need to speak out against the criticism that often follows such milestones.
He questioned why wealth is commonly linked to crime or dark practices, saying, “You remain stuck in a mindset where you label wealthy people as those involved in wash wash or as devil worshippers. That way of thinking is simply driven by bitterness and jealousy.”
According to Bolo, this kind of thinking limits people and creates unnecessary hatred toward those who are doing well in life.
While acknowledging the attention the luxury car attracted, Bolo focused on the journey behind it. He congratulated Waziri warmly and spoke about their shared past and growth over time.
He even joked about the size of the vehicle but made it clear that his feelings were genuine and positive.
“Congratulations, big man. You know how far we have come. I feel like you may have exaggerated a bit by buying such a big machine, but I like it, and I am happy to see it. Congratulations. This is how Arabian men roll now,” he said.

The Toyota Land Cruiser V8, a 2023 model, was officially received in Mombasa. The moment was marked by a small gathering of friends who came together not only to welcome the car but also to celebrate Waziri’s birthday. For Bolo, the event was more than just about a vehicle. He described it as a meaningful point in life that reflected faith, patience, and gratitude.
“I am truly challenged and inspired by this move. This is the newest V8, a 2023 model. We had to come to Mombasa to officially welcome this new car on his birthday. Congratulations once again,” he said.
His words showed admiration without envy, something he encouraged others to practice.
Bolo also spoke about the importance of prayer and mutual support among friends. He shared that he had been praying for Waziri’s success and now hoped for the same support in return.
“You know how far you have come, and we continue believing in God. I want you to pray for me the same way I have been praying for you. I prayed, and you have now purchased a luxury car, so pray for me too. Inshallah,” he said.
Bolo reminded people that success has different paths and that celebrating others does not take away from one’s own journey.
