Power play or routine move? The silence surrounding Wanjiku Muhia’s stripped security

Fresh political tension has erupted after claims emerged that Kipipiri MP Hon. Wanjiku Muhia has allegedly lost her security detail.

The claims were raised by Dr. Peter Mbae, the Secretary for Planning and Economic Affairs in the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), through a Facebook post that quickly sparked debate.

Mbae linked the reported move to ongoing political battles involving former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. He claimed the withdrawal was not a routine security decision but a political punishment targeting leaders who have shifted their loyalty from President William Ruto’s camp to Gachagua’s side.

According to Mbae, President Ruto is struggling to accept the political changes happening in Nyandarua County. The region was once a strong support base for the United Democratic Alliance. However, recent developments suggest that support is slowly moving toward DCP and Gachagua’s allies.

Mbae accused the government of using power to silence leaders who no longer support the ruling side. He suggested that Muhia is facing pressure because of her growing alignment with Gachagua and his political movement in the Mt. Kenya region.

Wanjiku Muhia remains one of the most influential leaders in Nyandarua. She previously served as Nyandarua Woman Representative and also worked at the East African Legislative Assembly.

Over the years, she has built a strong reputation through work in education, women empowerment, and regional leadership.

Her political shift has become more visible in recent months. She has attended several meetings and rallies linked to Gachagua’s camp. This has placed her at the center of growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The reported withdrawal of security has also raised safety concerns. This comes at a sensitive time following the killing of another MP, making many leaders fear for their protection.

The government has not issued an official response on the claims. Still, the controversy has fueled debate across the country as political rivalry continues to intensify in key regions.
