KANU youth leader Chibeka Matara has emerged as the most popular political party youth leader in the latest Mwelekeo Insights Political Parties Youth Leaders Popularity Survey, after garnering 43.4% support.
The survey released by Mwelekeo Insights ranked Abbie Zuena of Linda Mwananchi second with 32.9%, placing the two leaders well ahead of the rest of the field.
According to the poll, Angel Mbuthia of Jubilee Party was ranked third with 8.9%, followed by Wanjiku Thiga of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) at 7.4%.
Julius Umoja of the Wiper Democratic Movement came fifth with 5.9%, while Kariuki Ngunjiri of UDA garnered 1.1%. John Ketorah of ODM finished seventh with 0.4%.
The findings show Matara held a commanding lead over the rest of the contenders, with only Zuena surpassing the 30 per cent mark. The remaining five youth leaders each recorded single-digit support, with UDA and ODM posting the lowest ratings in the survey.
The poll also highlighted a significant gap between the top two candidates and the rest of the field. Matara and Zuena together accounted for 76.3% of the support, underscoring their dominance in the youth leadership popularity rankings.
Mwelekeo Insights said the survey assessed the popularity of youth leaders drawn from various political parties across the country. The research firm focuses on measuring public opinion on political, governance, economic and social issues through opinion polling.
The survey recorded 3,991 valid ballots and did not report any rejected ballots.
