Inspekta Mwala hails sports enthusiast Nick Mararo after backing dwarf athletes

Comedian Inspekta Mwala has praised Base Yetu CEO Nick Mararo for supporting Kenyan athletes, revealing how the businessman helped a team of dwarf athletes travel to an international sporting competition.

Mwala said the team recently represented Kenya at the International Dwarf Games, where they won several gold medals.

According to the comedian, Mararo stepped in to make the trip possible by covering the athletes’ air tickets and accommodation costs.

“We recently competed in international Dwarf games and won several gold medals for Kenya. What many don’t know is that it is Base Yetu C.E.O Nick Mararo who sponsored our trip including air tickets and accommodation costs. He’s very passionate about sports and arts,” Mwala said.

The remarks add to Mararo’s public profile as a supporter of sporting and creative talent. Base Yetu has previously been associated with sports initiatives, including pool tournaments and entertainment events involving Kenyan artists.

Who is Nick Mararo?

Away from his role as Base Yetu CEO, Mararo is also positioning himself for an elective political position in Nyeri County.

He is seeking the Nyeri senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 General Election and has been undertaking grassroots engagements across the county. Recent reports show him meeting young people, pool players and business owners during his Mashinani activities.

Mararo is also listed among the 2027 Nyeri senatorial aspirants, with Jubilee Party listed alongside his name on a candidates platform.

His growing political profile has coincided with increased activity on the ground, as he seeks to build relationships with residents ahead of the 2027 contest.

While some supporters in Nyeri have already begun referring to him as their senator, the actual mandate will be decided by voters in the 2027 election.
