Borabu MP Patrick Osero has taken the lead in a new survey on the 2027 parliamentary race, with Jubilee candidate Morara Kebaso trailing by 12.9 percentage points.

The poll by Mwelekeo Insights shows Osero, who is seeking to retain the seat on an ODM ticket, with 48.4 per cent support among respondents.

Kebaso, who is running on a Jubilee ticket, follows with 35.5 per cent, putting the two leading candidates at the centre of the contest.

The survey was conducted among 287 respondents and recorded 100 per cent turnout, according to results published by Mwelekeo Insights.

The poll places the contest largely between Osero and Kebaso, with the other candidates recording single-digit support.

Osero leads as Kebaso closes in

Osero’s 48.4 per cent gives him a lead of 12.9 percentage points over Kebaso, who has 35.5 per cent.

Engineer Peter Nyarige is third with 8 per cent, while Jared Nyakundi has 7.7 per cent. Gerald Orina records 0.3 per cent.

The figures show that Osero and Kebaso account for 83.9 per cent of the support captured in the survey, leaving the remaining candidates with a combined 16 per cent.

The poll does not, however, indicate how the candidates would perform among the entire registered electorate in Borabu. It reflects the responses captured by Mwelekeo Insights in the survey.

Osero is the sitting Borabu MP and was elected on an ODM ticket in the 2022 General Election. Parliamentary records identify him as the current member for the constituency.

Kebaso, meanwhile, has shifted his political strategy ahead of the 2027 election. The political activist abandoned his INJECT Party and joined Jubilee, saying the move was influenced by political realities in the Gusii region.

He has since positioned himself as a Jubilee candidate for the Borabu parliamentary seat.

The Mwelekeo Insights survey therefore places the incumbent and Kebaso as the two leading contenders at this stage of the race, with the remaining candidates trailing significantly.

As political activity gathers pace ahead of the 2027 General Election, the Borabu contest is likely to attract increased attention, particularly as established party structures and newer political figures seek to consolidate support in the constituency.
