Two Arrested With 12 Sacks of Marijuana in Coast

Anti-narcotics detectives in the Coast region on Wednesday 12th arrested two suspects in Boa, Kombani area, following a pre-dawn raid on a homestead suspected of being a major drug distribution point.

The suspects, Kassim Omar Konerwa (34) and Issa Omar Konerwa (24), were found in possession of 12 sacks of marijuana, which detectives believe were stored at the homestead before being distributed to various locations. The drugs, weighing hundreds of kilograms, have been seized as evidence.

According to authorities, the suspects have been placed in custody pending arraignment, as investigations continue to determine the extent of their involvement in drug trafficking networks. The raid was part of an ongoing crackdown targeting major drug syndicates operating along the coast.

This latest operation underscores the government’s heightened efforts to combat drug trafficking, a long-standing challenge in the region. In recent months, authorities have intensified intelligence-led operations, leading to multiple arrests and drug seizures.

Speaking after the arrest, a senior officer from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal networks fueling drug abuse. Residents have been urged to report suspicious activities, as security agencies step up efforts to eradicate narcotics from the region.
