Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga is facing a sharp political backlash after political analyst and Facebook user Vincent Opar accused her camp of wasting energy on internal fights instead of building a stronger political future for the Luo community.

In a fiery open letter, Opar claimed Wanga’s political battles against fellow ODM figures have become costly, divisive and dangerous to her own standing.

His remarks come amid rising tension between Wanga and Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, with recent reports saying Millie has accused the governor of taking credit for national and donor-funded projects in Homa Bay.

Wanga Under Fire Over Endless Political Wars

Opar accused Wanga of allowing bloggers and online attack teams to drag her into unnecessary fights with senior leaders, including Millie Odhiambo, Babu Owino, Winnie Odinga, James Orengo and others.

His strongest warning was that Wanga may be losing public sympathy by appearing to fight “brothers and sisters” instead of building a serious political negotiation front.

The analyst argued that Millie is not an easy political target, saying her public image is built on a long record, consistency and an inspirational journey that many people can trace.

He further claimed that no amount of blogging or online attacks can defeat Millie in the court of public opinion.

Millie Odhiambo Dominates the Public Pitch

The sharpest part of Opar’s message was his comparison between Millie’s NG CDF allocation and Wanga’s county budget.

He argued that Millie works with far less money than the county government, yet continues to command strong public defence whenever she is attacked.

While the claims remain political opinion, they cut into a growing perception that Homa Bay residents want visible development, not endless political noise.

Wanga, who became Homa Bay governor in 2022 and is widely recognised as one of Kenya’s female county chiefs, now finds herself at the centre of a brutal internal storm.

Opar warned that powerful national players may be using Wanga as part of a larger political game, keeping her busy in local wars while others prepare for bigger contests ahead.

He urged her to retreat, reconcile with leaders she has fought and focus on strategy before it is too late.

The message lands like a political alarm bell. It paints Wanga as a governor surrounded by noise, fighting too many battles and risking isolation.

For Millie Odhiambo, the moment appears to strengthen her image as a leader who can survive political attacks and still dominate the debate.

For Wanga, the warning is blunt. Stop the political war, silence the attack machine and return to delivery before the ground shifts completely.
