Ng’eno family hit by another loss as Johana’s brother Paul Dies after long illness

Paul Ng’eno, the brother of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ng’eno, has died after battling illness for an extended period. His death was confirmed by his family on Friday, August 21, 2026, only hours after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua visited the family and pledged to settle his Ksh1.8 million hospital bill.

Paul had been receiving medical treatment in Eldoret following health complications that developed after a motorbike accident some time ago. The accident reportedly affected his spinal cord and throat area, leading to a long period of treatment.

The family said Paul had recently undergone surgery and was considered stable as doctors prepared to discharge him from hospital. However, his condition later deteriorated unexpectedly.

“Unfortunately, his condition deteriorated a few hours ago, and he sadly passed away this evening,” the family stated.

His death came as the family was still dealing with the loss of his younger brother Johana, who died in a fatal helicopter crash on February 28, 2026. Paul died 174 days after the former MP’s death.

Gachagua had visited Paul’s family earlier on Friday as they sought assistance with his medical expenses. During the visit, he committed to settling the Ksh1.8 million hospital bill that had accumulated during Paul’s treatment.

Paul was the only brother of Johana and the only surviving son of their mother, Mary Temas, popularly known as Mama Mary. He grew up in a family of six siblings and remained closely connected to his family until his death.

The family had already experienced another loss before Johana’s death, with their sister Janeth Chepkosgei having died earlier. Paul’s surviving sisters are Elizabeth Chumo and Sarah Temas.

Their father, Ngong Ngeno Ole Kisiara, died several years ago. His name remained significant in the family, with Johana often using his father’s name as part of his public identity.

Paul’s death adds another difficult chapter for the Ng’eno family, which has now lost two brothers within less than six months. His relatives are expected to announce details of his funeral arrangements as they come to terms with the latest loss.
