Who is Mark Mwenje?
Mark Muriithi Mwenje is the current Member of Parliament for Embakasi West Constituency in Nairobi County, having secured the seat during the August 2022 General Election.
He defeated former MP George Theuri, ending his ten-year leadership of the constituency.
Mwenje is also the son of the late David Mwenje, who represented the former Embakasi Constituency in Parliament.
His political career has included involvement in parliamentary discussions concerning public service delivery, governance and access to essential government services.
In April 2026, Mwenje demanded transparency in the issuance of national identity cards, warning against political interference in the registration process.
He maintained that national identity cards remain essential for education, employment and access to government services.
His political journey also took another turn in July 2026 when former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua announced plans for Mwenje to seek re-election on a DCP ticket.
