Nyeri County senatorial aspirant Nick Mararo has received glowing praise from Mukurwe-ini Talent Football Club after responding to the team’s appeal for support, earning the affectionate title of “Super Senator” from grateful footballers.

In a Facebook post on Monday, October 19, 2026, the Mukurwe-ini-based football club expressed its appreciation for Mararo, recognising his response to the needs of young players as he pursues the Nyeri Senate seat in the 2027 General Election.

“Hon. Nick Mararo heard our call and he showed up for the lads. Twasema asante. “We’ll forever be indebted. Twakupenda sana” the club stated.

Mararo earns recognition

The club’s public appreciation puts Mararo’s engagement with grassroots football in the spotlight.

His response to the team’s appeal provides an example of direct engagement with young people involved in community sports.

Although the club did not disclose the exact assistance received, its message shows appreciation for Mararo’s willingness to respond.

The recognition comes as discussions about youth sporting opportunities in Nyeri continue to attract public attention.

Youth football matters

Grassroots football clubs provide young players with opportunities to develop skills, build teamwork and pursue their sporting ambitions.

Across Kenya, efforts to strengthen youth football development continue to highlight the importance of supporting local teams.

For Mararo, the club’s appreciation adds a youth-focused development story to his public engagements ahead of the 2027 senatorial contest.

The team’s description of him as “Super Senator” is an expression of appreciation rather than an election result.

His latest recognition highlights the role of community football in connecting aspiring leaders with the needs and ambitions of young people in Nyeri County.

All the same, the recognition from Mukurwe-ini Talent Football Club comes just days after the Nyeri Senate aspirant emerged at the top of a senatorial poll conducted by Mwelekeo Insights, scoring 43.1 per cent.

Mararo recorded the highest share in the poll, ahead of King’ori Wanjohi, who secured 17.3 per cent, and Kabando wa Kabando, who followed with 15.7 per cent.

The poll also placed Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga fourth with 8.3 per cent, followed by Duncan Gituanja at 7.6 per cent and former Woman Representative Priscillah Nyokabi at 4.6 per cent. The results reflect the preferences of poll participants as political activity intensifies ahead of the 2027 General Election.
