The Jubilee Party has unveiled Lennah Wanjiku wa Koinange as its prospective candidate for the Kiambaa parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election, signalling the party’s renewed efforts to strengthen its presence in Mt Kenya.

In a statement on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta officially welcomed Wanjiku into the party, where she declared her intention to contest the Kiambaa Constituency Member of Parliament seat on a Jubilee ticket.

The announcement comes as the former ruling party continues positioning itself ahead of the 2027 elections, particularly in the Mt Kenya region, where it is seeking to rebuild its political influence under the leadership of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“Our doors are open to all Kenyans who believe in shared prosperity, inclusive leadership, unity, and a better future for our country,” Ole Kenta said while welcoming Wanjiku into the party.

Wanjiku’s entry adds to Jubilee’s growing list of aspirants preparing to fly the party’s flag in the next General Election, as political parties intensify grassroots mobilisation more than a year before the polls.

Kiambaa Constituency, in Kiambu County, is expected to be among the closely watched parliamentary races in Mt Kenya, with major political parties expected to field candidates as they battle for influence in one of the country’s key political regions.

The move also underscores Jubilee’s strategy of recruiting new candidates and reactivating its structures in areas that previously formed the backbone of the party’s support.

Although Jubilee no longer holds the dominance it enjoyed during Uhuru Kenyatta’s presidency, the party has maintained that it remains a key political player and has continued to court leaders seeking elective seats in 2027.

The unveiling of Wanjiku is likely to add momentum to the contest for the Kiambaa parliamentary seat as parties continue laying the groundwork for the next election.
