National Treasury CS John Mbadi has once again been exposed as incompetent and inhumane by default as Kenya grapples with a worsening fuel crisis that has triggered nationwide anger, transport disruption and renewed scrutiny of his leadership style and political posture.

The crisis, which escalated in mid May, has seen commuters stranded, matatu operators staging strikes and essential goods becoming more expensive as transport costs rise.
The situation has deepened public frustration, with many Kenyans accusing senior government officials of being detached from everyday economic realities.
Criticism intensified after social media user Wyllice Ke posted a strongly worded message questioning Mbadi’s competence and his treatment of supporters over the years.
“Wandayi is simply sick. Embarrassing Broad Based big time. Afadhali Hon John Mbadi Ngongo though I don’t like him
20 years he made ME his communication officer without any pay job empowerment
“Mbadi is bad. Anatafuta umarufu awe Luo Kingpin anyimwe kabisa,” Wyllice Ke wrote on Facebook.
The remarks have circulated widely online, adding to a growing narrative that Mbadi has failed to connect with ordinary citizens at a time of economic pressure.
Some online commentators have also pointed to his recent public defence of fuel levies as evidence that he is more aligned with government fiscal positions than public sentiment.
During recent remarks, Mbadi dismissed nationwide matatu strikes as uncalled for and warned against emotional reactions to the crisis, a statement that many critics interpreted as lacking empathy for struggling commuters.
John Mbadi as exploitative leader
Beyond the fuel crisis, Mbadi is also facing political criticism tied to perceptions of his long term conduct and ambitions within Luo Nyanza succession politics.

Some critics accuse him of benefiting from youth support networks over the years without meaningful empowerment in return, claims that have resurfaced amid renewed debate about his political trajectory and influence within the region.
Political observers note that Mbadi has historically positioned himself as a strong opposition voice on taxation and public debt, but his current role in government has placed him in defence of policies he once criticised.
This shift has fuelled accusations of inconsistency among his critics.
The debate has also extended into Luo Nyanza political succession conversations following Raila Odinga’s long standing dominance. Some commentators now question whether Mbadi’s national profile can translate into regional leadership support, especially as new figures emerge in local political rankings.
