A 43-year-old man is recovering from injuries while under police guard after he was attacked by an angry mob in Ikolomani, Kakamega County. The man is accused of killing his three-year-old daughter and seriously injuring her two siblings in an incident that has shocked residents of Imabusi village.

According to police reports, the suspect, identified as Nathan Shimenga, allegedly attacked his children using a panga inside their home.

The three-year-old girl died from the injuries, while her two brothers, who are twins aged four, were rushed to Kakamega County Referral Hospital in critical condition. Medical teams are working to stabilize the boys as investigations continue.

Early reports indicate that the suspect had a disagreement with his wife shortly before the incident.

The woman is said to have left their home and returned to her parents following the dispute. Authorities believe the disagreement may have played a role in what happened, although the exact sequence of events is still being investigated.

Residents said they became aware of the incident after hearing distress from the home. By the time they intervened, the children had already been attacked. The news quickly spread across the village, drawing a crowd of angry locals who confronted the suspect. In the chaos, he was assaulted and left with injuries before police officers arrived at the scene.

The suspect was later taken to Shibwe Hospital, where he is receiving treatment under tight security. Police have maintained a presence at the facility to prevent further attacks and to ensure he remains in custody.

Ikolomani OCPD Masai Makau confirmed the incident and said that investigations are ongoing. He stated that officers are working to gather more information and understand the full circumstances surrounding the attack.

The incident has left many residents deeply disturbed, with calls for justice and support for the affected family growing within the community.
