Autopsy results confirms what happened to Consolata Githinji before falling from sixth floor Airbnb.

Fresh details in the death of Consolata Githinji have dramatically changed the direction of investigations after an autopsy revealed she suffered multiple severe injuries before falling from a sixth floor Airbnb apartment in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa area.

The findings have shifted the case from an assumed suicide to a suspected murder, prompting detectives to intensify investigations into the events leading to her death on the night of April 26, 2026.

According to the postmortem examination, Githinji had already sustained major physical trauma before the fatal fall, raising serious questions about what happened inside the apartment before she went over the balcony.

Pathologists established that she had a broken left hand, fractures in both legs, blunt force injuries to her back, visible abrasions on her head, and a collapsed lung.

Investigators believe these injuries were inflicted before the fall and are inconsistent with the initial claims that she jumped from the balcony on her own.

The nature of the wounds has led authorities to suspect she may have been assaulted inside the Airbnb before being pushed or thrown from the building.

When the incident was first reported, it was treated as a possible suicide after reports emerged that she had fallen during the night under unclear circumstances.

However, the autopsy has now ruled out suicide as the primary cause, with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations reclassifying the matter as a murder inquiry.

Police are focusing on reconstructing Githinji’s final hours, including examining surveillance footage, forensic evidence from the apartment, and witness accounts from those who may have interacted with her.

The main suspect, who had reportedly claimed that Githinji jumped, remains in custody at Kilimani Police Station pending further investigations.

The case has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for justice as family members and friends demand accountability for her death.

Authorities have assured the public that no possibility will be ignored as investigators work to uncover the truth behind the tragic incident.

The shocking developments have transformed what appeared to be a suicide into one of Nairobi’s most disturbing suspected murder cases this year.
