Unanswered questions surround death of 25-year-old former Royal Media intern

An autopsy has revealed that 25-year-old Derrick Omanga Tom was tragically strangled to death, leading his family to call for justice.

The young man, a bright former intern at Royal Media Services, was last seen alive at Al Capone Joint in Mwihoko, Kiambu County, where he was enjoying a night out with a woman.

According to reports, Derrick was having a good time when his companion felt uneasy and decided to leave him alone with a man she did not know.

This decision might hold crucial information about the circumstances surrounding Derrick’s sudden and senseless death.

Derrick’s father has come forward with allegations of police misconduct, claiming that officers attempted to hide the truth about his son’s death.

The family reported Derrick missing to the Kasarani Police Station on December 5, 2025.

However, they were devastated to learn later that the police had already recovered Derrick’s body and taken it to City Mortuary without informing them.

The heartbreaking autopsy findings confirmed that Derrick had been strangled, shattering his family’s hopes.

Derrick’s father expressed anger and confusion, particularly regarding the police’s actions.

He shared that the woman he was with was arrested after Derrick was found but was released without any explanation.

Additionally, she refused to reveal the identity of the man who had been with them that night, leaving many questions unanswered.

The family feels deeply affected by Derrick’s death, believing he deserved to live, pursue his dreams, and come home to them.

They are now left with painful memories and a growing list of questions about what really happened the night he lost his life.
