Officials from Kenya’s ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party are in the neighboring Uganda to benchmark from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s National Resistance Movement (NRM) and strengthen bilateral relations and strategic cooperation between the two parties.
The Kenyan team landed in Entebbe International airport in the morning of Wednesday February 4, 2025, and is expected to be in Uganda for six days.
Under the leadership of UDA Secretary General Senator Hassan Omar, the Kenyan delegation was welcomed by the Nation Resistance Movement Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong and the Director of External Affairs, Maj. (Rtd) Awich Pollar. The trip highlights the determination of both parties to further expand their collaboration in political, economic and social activities.
Throughout their conversation, there was considerable debate on the Kenya-Uganda relations, the shared interests of both countries in the region and the promotion of democratic principles throughout the area as reported buy NRM on its official website.
Party leaders Yoweri Museveni and William Ruto have shared a cordial political relationship, with Uganda often serving as a key regional ally for Kenya. Over the years, Museveni has been seen as a mentor to various Kenyan leaders, including Ruto. Their relationship has been strengthened by mutual economic interests, infrastructural projects, and regional security cooperation. Ruto has made several visits to Uganda both as Deputy President and now as Head of State, reinforcing diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
