U.S. Embassy Official Reaffirms Support for Key Kenya Programs Amid Aid Review

Marc Dillard, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Kenya, reaffirmed continued U.S. support for the Haiti program, food assistance, and other life-saving initiatives during a discussion with Hon. FCPA John Mbadi, EGH, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning. The meeting took place this morning at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi.

The discussion centered on recent U.S. Executive Orders, which include a temporary 90-day suspension of certain foreign aid programs. This suspension is part of a broader review to assess the effectiveness of these programs and their alignment with U.S. foreign policy priorities. The move has raised questions about its potential impact on Kenya, particularly regarding ongoing development programs and organizations operating in the country.

CS Mbadi and Mr. Dillard emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration to evaluate any implications and explore solutions to address emerging challenges, ensuring that Kenya’s development priorities remain supported during this period of review.
