Safaricom to host historic 18-Hour Concert to Celebrate M-PESA’s 18th anniversary at Uhuru Park

Safaricom has unveiled plans for a record-breaking 18-hour concert to mark M-PESA’s 18th anniversary, promising an electrifying celebration of Kenya’s most successful mobile money platform.

The event, set to take place at Uhuru Park on March 21, 2025, will bring together Kenya’s top artists, DJs, and entertainers in a grand spectacle of music, culture, and innovation.

A Celebration of M-PESA’s Impact

More than just a birthday concert, the event is a “thank you” to millions of Kenyans who have embraced M-PESA, transforming it from a simple money transfer service into a key driver of Kenya’s economy.

“This concert is our way of celebrating the profound impact M-PESA has had on the lives of Kenyans and expressing our deepest gratitude to every Kenyan who has been part of this incredible journey over the last 18 years,” said Safaricom CEO Dr. Peter Ndegwa.

“As the biggest supporter of Kenya’s creative economy, we look forward to creating a platform where Kenyans can showcase their talents and earn from their craft,” he added.

What to Expect

Attendees can look forward to 18 hours of non-stop entertainment featuring performances from top Kenyan artists and over 18 of Kenya’s best DJs, including DJ Grauchi, Kriss Darlin, DJ Kalonje, DJ Redbone, DJ IV, and DJ Moz.

The lineup will also feature renowned emcees, including MC Kibunja, Tallia Oyando, Lion and Mbusi Deh, Kwambox, and Azeezah, alongside dance crews Alfa House and The Cluster.

Music lovers can expect electrifying performances from Kenya’s biggest artists, including Mejja, Jua Cali, Femi One, Khaligraph Jones, Karura Voices, Muringe, Kodong Klan, and Njerae.

Beyond the music, attendees will experience interactive exhibitions showcasing M-PESA’s evolution, fun activities, and opportunities to engage with the vibrant community that has made M-PESA a household name.

How to Attend

Gates open at 2:00 PM, and entry will be granted upon purchasing the Ksh 20 M-PESA birthday bundle via the M-PESA App on the concert day.

With this historic event, Safaricom aims to celebrate M-PESA’s journey, the people who have shaped it, and its impact on Kenya’s economy and digital landscape.
