Residents of Mbiuni witnessed a rare public moment on Sunday when the daughter of President William Ruto attended a community fundraiser to support the renovation of St. Mary’s Rehabilitation Centre.
The event brought together local leaders, families, and well-wishers who gathered to raise money for children receiving care at the centre.
The young woman, Stephanie Ruto, told the audience that she had been sent by her father and family to deliver a donation on their behalf.
In a video shared later, she explained that her father chose her to attend because of her profession as a Children’s Officer, a role that involves working closely with young people and supporting their welfare.

She said that when she learned about the fundraiser in Mbiuni, she felt it was important to be part of it because of her work with children. According to her, helping children grow in a safe and caring environment is something she strongly believes in.
During her brief speech, Stephanie made it clear that she is not a politician and does not often speak in public. She thanked the organizers and expressed happiness at seeing the children who benefit from the rehabilitation centre.
She assured the community that her family would continue to support efforts that improve the lives of vulnerable children.
She also praised the work being done at the centre and encouraged everyone present to keep helping in any way they could. Her words were simple and focused on unity and care for children who need support and protection.
She revealed the amount she had brought to the fundraiser. She announced that the contribution was Ksh 3 million, given by her father and the entire family.
The announcement was met with loud cheers and applause from the crowd. Many attendees expressed appreciation for the support and said the money would go a long way in improving the facilities at the rehabilitation centre.
